Our Story
After working in enterprise IT for 20 years, Eric left "big organization" tech behind to try working in a smaller setting. Enterprise IT, though the model for how to do things properly, can become terribly impersonal, and Eric's favorite part of his job was getting to know his users well enough to actually know what they needed, so he could offer solutions they hadn't even asked for.
What he discovered was an odd gap in the market for IT services. Mid-sized companies can outsource their IT needs to "managed service providers". MSPs are not much different from an in-house IT department other than being outside contractors, but because the MSPs own the hardware, software and other infrastructure they provide for their clients, the costs for their services make them exclusively the province of mid-sized companies and larger. Eric investigated employment at several these IT companies, and realized that they wouldn't take him away from the impersonality of his tech work that he wanted to escape: all of the clients of MSPs were too large to avoid it.
For companies that truly deserve to be called "small businesses" (or families/houseolds) - too small to be potential MSP clients because of the monthly costs - the only kind of tech service on offer has historically been "break/fix" IT. Break/fix is terrible for users: something breaks or something new needs to be set up, the tech provider is contacted, they come do that one task, and then they leave until you call them again. Eric had been in enterprise IT for far too long for that reduced standard-of-care to be acceptable to him, and was unable to find literally any tech services company that offered MSP-like standard-of-service without the expensive leased infrastructure and equipment.
After several interactions with MSPs, he decided to create the service tier that he couldn't find anyone offering - and Metamorphosis IT Solutions was born, created to to bring enterprise IT standard-of-care and quality-of-service to everyone. Households, small businesses, and local charities are no less deserving of high quality IT support services. They shouldn't have to settle for break/fix. And now, they don't. Everyone deserves user-focused IT.
Our Mission
For the past three decades, best practices, methods and techniques have developed in the enterprise - and they've stayed there. For much of that time, there were genuine technical limitations preventing the extension of the full power of what IT can offer people beyond the walls of giant office buildings and outside the borders of business parks. That time has passed. The benefits of what IT can do are now fully available to everyone, everywhere that has electricity and internet connectivity - if they only knew what was there, and what it could do for them. Metamorphosis IT Solutions has a mission: to expose the truly transformative power that technology can offer - the ways that IT can make peoples lives better - to everyone who wants to make use of it.
Our Unique Approach
Metamorphosis IT is based on the “IT as a resource” or “On-demand IT” model, attempting to make the home and small business user experience as much like enterprise IT as possible. Like enterprise IT, we're responsible for every aspect of the technological tools that you use. That means finding, testing, deploying, managing, and supporting the best tools to accomplish your goals.
We’re also subject-matter experts who offer suggestions when technology offers solutions to problems you face, even if you don't think to ask. Our responsibility doesn’t end at the provisioning of tools for you to use, it extends to helping choose the right tool for any task. Even if you're not sure a tool even exists for what you want to do, that's still our job. Our role as your IT team includes training and tutoring you in learning how to use the tools we've provided.
To ensure the reliability of the tech tools you depend on (now more than ever) we actively monitor absolutely everything you use that we possibly can. When things break, or go offline, the devices notify us themselves that something is wrong, so we often know before you even report a problem. If things do break - and of course, they unavoidably do - we've got a plan for that, because planning for service failures is part of our responsiblity. We're always pro-actively looking for things that can be functionally improved, even if they’re working as well as expected.
The most important aspect of our role as your IT pros is to offer you the ability to come to us and say “this is what our outcome needs to look like” and have us handle everything about how to get there. You can’t be expected to know what to ask us for if you don’t even know what the tech is capable of doing. We take out the "jargon intimidation" you've likely experienced with IT. You don’t have to speak tech to get what you need, because it’s not your job. It’s our job to be your translators.

Our Founder
Metamorphosis IT Solutions was founded by Eric Ribner. Eric has worked in IT since 1999, when he joined what was then Strategic Simulations Incorporated. He has only worked in professional technology geekery since his first day at SSI. Eric has since worked in nearly every imaginable industry, from pre-crash Dot Coms to law firms to financial services companies to manufacturing in their tech departments. He’s gotten to be involved in multiple paradigm shifts in the industry prior to the current one (the focus on “the cloud”) and has learned from the example of many others how to do IT - and how not to. Eric works, plays, lives, sleeps and breathes tech. If it were possible, he’d probably eat it, as well.
